Our Father

[311 words]

I remember the morning of my father’s funeral, my mother was in a hurry to leave the house. In a confused voice, I asked, “Why are you in such a rush?” She said, “Today is the last day we will get to see him.” I have longed to see and talk with my earthly father the last twenty-five years. I wished he could have met my wife, my kids, and you. Many of us understand the void of not having our father with us or not having a relationship with our father. What has sustained me is knowing our Heavenly Father is ALWAYS with us each day!

God, our Father, is great! Deut. 5:24 says, “And you said, Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives.”

God, our Father, is loving! John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

God our Father, is perfect! Matt. 5:48 says, “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect.”

God our Father, is longsuffering! Rom. 15:5 says, “Now, may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.”

God our Father, sustains us! Matt. 6:26 says, “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

We may deal with the earthly void of not having our fathers. Remaining faithful will allow us to understand the everlasting love of God our Father.
