But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” 1 John 1:7.
Because God is light, we cannot have fellowship with Him if there is any darkness in us at all. Light can have no fellowship with darkness. Since we’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, only if Christ’s blood washes us clean of sin and then continues to was us clean as we walk in the light can we have fellowship with God and so others who are also walking in the light. Fellowship is exclusive. And, in a culture that values inclusion, we struggle with where God Himself has drawn the line. You are either in or out of Christ. You are either walking in the light or in the darkness. God even addresses those who try to draw the line in another place by claiming to be without sin. In other words, there are some who want to be in fellowship with those in the light but are really lying. God even provides the fix for this. Rather than pretend, come into true fellowship with God and therefore His people that crosses every line of demographics by confessing your sins to find forgiveness.
