Many books have been written by men concerning the deity of Jesus but there is no need to read any of them. Just read the Bible and you will be convinced that Jesus is God. Here is a simple verse that sets forth the deity of Jesus: “‘Behold! The virgin will conceive in her womb and will bear a son, and they will call His name Emmanuel’ (which translated is, God with us)” (Matt. 1:23).
When we were in Sierra Leone an elderly preacher, brother Gibbs, came for a visit. Our landlord, a Muslim, invited us to dinner and we talked about Jesus. Our landlord said he believed Jesus was born of a virgin but that he did not believe Jesus was the Son of God. I will never forget brother Gibbs’ answer: “Something is wrong here!” Every person must have a father. But Jesus was born of a virgin. The only valid conclusion is that God was the Father of Jesus (read Luke 1:26-35).
