The Church is Praying

[215 words]

“On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God” (Acts 4:23-24).

Prayer is in everything that the people of God do. We are commanded to “pray continually.” God’s people got into the most trouble when they did not inquire of the Lord. Prayer is to be a part of our daily walk with God, but it must be part of our worship when we come together as a church. Then, the men who lead the congregation in prayer have a big responsibility to communicate with the Almighty on behalf of the entire assembly. On many occasions in Scripture, we see believers gathered together engaged in prayer. Having healed a cripple, Peter and John give a bold defense of the gospel and are warned by the same body that condemned Jesus to not speak anymore of Hirn. The church, that was most likely praying for their release (Acts 12:12), was their base, that, seeing their prayers answered, turned their attention in prayer for boldness instead in their declaration of Christ. Watch out world! The church is praying.

Do you worship God in prayer?
