Did You Know This About the Book of Isaiah?

[147 words]

We are all familiar with the fact that the Bible contains 66 individual books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New.

But did you know that the book of Isaiah is structured like a miniature Bible?

The first 39 chapters of Isaiah are filled with condemnation and judgment upon immoral and idolatrous people, similar to the Old Testament books. The last 27 chapters declare a message of hope for God’s people, much like the New Testament.

One of the most-loved chapters of Isaiah comes at chapter 53. Isaiah describes the “suffering servant” who, “Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5).
