Did You Know This About Zephaniah?

Zephaniah was a prophet during the time of King Josiah of Judah. He prophesied about the same time as Jeremiah and Habakkuk.

But did you know that Zephaniah was the only prophet of royal descent? He was, in fact, the great-great-grandson of the godly king Hezekiah.

Zephaniah was sent to announce God’s coming judgment upon the nations around Judah: Philistia, Moab, Ammon, Ethiopia, and Assyria.

A key verse is Zephaniah 2:3: 

“Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden
In the day of the Lord’s anger.”
