Human beings are naturally curious, but sometimes our curiosity progresses to stubbornness. For instance, curiosity causes toddlers to always have the question “why?” on their lips, but it’s stubbornness that drives the teenager to ask the same question when they are receiving orders from their parents. Whether it’s curiosity or stubbornness that brings up the question, God’s word has the answer to why we should be a Christian.
To be cleansed of sin. As Christians we have received the forgiveness of sins at conversion (Acts 2:38), and may receive the ongoing forgiveness when we stumble (1 John 1:7-10).
To have an Advocate before the Father. Although we will never reach sinless perfection, the scriptures say Christians have in Christ Jesus one to “plead our case” before the throne of God (1 John 2:1).
To have eternal life. When we are found in Christ, we have “the promise that He has promised us–eternal life” (1 John 2:25).
To have the privilege of sonship. Like the apostle John, Christians can make the joyful exclamation, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1).
Wouldn’t you love to be a Christian? There are good reasons why you should!
