[149 words]

Many hearts turn toward the concept of thankfulness during this time of year, and rightly so! God has provided an abundance not only of the physical things we need (Acts 14:17; 17:25; Matt. 5:45; 6:25-33), but also all spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3; 2 Peter 1:3), which we need more. He is indeed a giver of good gifts (James 1:17)!

Sometimes, though, when one or more of these blessings seem to be missing in us for a time, we become discouraged or depressed. When that feeling comes upon you, remember the encouraging letter of rejoicing Paul wrote to the Philippians. Though in chains (Phil. 1:7,13), Paul was yet thankful for his fellow Christians (1:3-11) and for the continued preaching of the gospel despite his incarceration (1:12-18). Even in chains, Paul could rejoice (Phil. 4:4)! Will you?
