Whether due to their environment, or due to things that happen (or don’t happen) to them, they begin to doubt their own worth. Job expressed these sorts of doubt when he wished that he had never been born (Job 10:18-19). In his grief, his vision was clouded to the goal that God had for him. Many in the Bible rightly came to the conclusion that the real goal of life is to “fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all” (Ecc. 12:13). Some may ask, however, “Why should I serve God?” Using Psalm 139:13-16 as a basis, notice three facts about our relationship with God that should cause us to desire to serve Him.
