Did You Know This About Ecclesiastes?

[124 words] Jewish tradition says that Solomon wrote Song of Solomon during his youthful years, Proverbs during his middle years, and Ecclesiastes in his later years.  In the book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon identifies himself seven times as the “preacher,” a translation of the Hebrew word qoheleth (co-HELL-et). It has the meaning of “leader of the assembly,” or “speaker of the assembly.” It could also have the meaning of a collector of words or wisdom. The word qoheleth appears only in Ecclesiastes. The key word in Ecclesiastes is “vanity,” occurring 37 times, as Solomon realizes in his search for meaning and satisfaction in life on earth, the only thing that matters is to fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
