Taking the Correct Trail

[156 words]

“There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).

When hiking, it can be dangerous to follow the wrong trail. In fact, wandering off trail is the number one reason that adult hikers require rescue.

This is what happened to Sue Clements, a 53-year-old hiker from Ohio. In 2018, she took the wrong path. It looked easy. It looked inviting. But it wasn’t marked, and Sue was found dead from exposure. An ironic thing is that she was less than 2 miles from the park’s main parking lot and help.

The Lord has mapped out the correct trail for us to take in life. If we follow this narrow path, we will be safe. If we deviate from the path, if we follow some man-made plan of salvation or a false morality, then death will be the result (Matthew 7:13-14).
