We have been studying the book of Philippians in our young adult class on Sunday mornings. We recently covered Philippians 1:21 where Paul makes the statement, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Avon Malone observed that we must ask ourselves the question, “What is my life?” You see, if we change the first part of Paul’s statement (to live is Christ) then we must change the second part as well (to die is gain). If your life is about anything other than Christ, then when you die, it will be a great loss for you. What are we striving for in life? In the end, will it be a victory for you, or a terrible loss?
