Just Make Yourself!

[192 words]

Dr. Paul Faulkner once said, “Sometimes you have to grab your ‘wanter’ by your ‘willer’ and just get busy.” In other words you must simply get up and do what needs to be done. Everything in life isn’t fun, or easy, or pleasant. Who really likes to clean a commode?

Confront a brother who is in error, visit the sick, go to a nursing home. This things are not easy to do; but do them, we must, if we are to please our Lord! There is a vast difference between standing on the promises and simply setting on the premises. Who said that warming a pew is all that living a life for Christ is about?

The story of the Good Samaritan is about caring and compassion. But the first thing and the most important thing he did was to care enough to stop. Do you think it was fun or pleasant for him to bind the wounds of a stranger or to pay for his needs while he got well?

Christianity is not a spectator sport. It isn’t a part of one’s life; it is life for the Child of God.
