Habits Are First Cobwebs, Then Cables

[249 words] There is an old saying, “Habits are first cobwebs, then cables.” We have all experienced how true this proverb is. Some habits are ridiculously tough to form and others nearly impossible to break. If we continue building our habits, they can turn to addictions. This can either be wonderful or terrible. In 1 Corinthians 6:12, Paul said, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.” Clearly Paul is talking about being mastered by those habits which bring us away from God. While nothing should master, there is Someone who should be our master. Have our habits mastered us? Do we have habits that have become addictions? Are we in control or are our desire and habits ? Many in this life cannot go a day without smoking cigarettes. Some cannot…
