Have you noticed that there is tremendous apathy and lack of knowledge concerning the Bible and theology?
Many have what I call a “mishmash” of convoluted, contrived, circuitous convictions of what the Bible says. It is a combination of the Ten Commandments, a few Psalms, a handful of Parables, several of the Beatitudes of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount, and a smattering of other truths…such as, “An Eye for an Eye…”
It is not surprising that some (who would lead you to believe that they know the most) don’t know the difference between the epistles and the apostles.
The precious black Bible laying on a coffee table or on a shelf will do little good unlessĀ it is opened, often, read, studied, and the truths put into practice by the reader. How long has it been since you turned off the television and discussed the Bible with your family?
Why not begin now? If there was ever a time when the God of heaven needs to be listened to, that time is now!
May we “speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where it is silent,” and practice what we learn! Before we attempt to “restore our erring brothers,” let’s look into the mirror at our own imperfections!
