The Bible is the book. It is the only book for a dying man. It is the only book for a living man. As the very word of God, the Bible is the book that speaks to any and all situations for a person’s life. It is the only book that informs us about how to live the best life now as well as how to secure a life of eternal joy.
What makes us say such things? What makes the Bible so important?
The word of God is flawless because it is authored by a God who is flawless. It is true from beginning to end.
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. (Psalm 19:7)
Every word of God proves true… (Proverbs 30:5)
The word of God is the highest, final and ultimate standard of authority.
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the LORD has spoken… (Isa. 1:2)
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks
to God the Father through him. (Col. 3:17)
The word of God is unmatched in effectiveness. It delivers on what it promises it will do.
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (Isa. 55:10-11)
The Bible is not just another book—it is the word of God. As such it has the power to transform and rescue the lives of all who read it (cf. James 1:21; 1 Thess. 2:13; Heb. 4:12). How amazing!
