Over the past several weeks many people have traveled because of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. During those trips many people either went home or came home. Home is an important place for many people. It is the place where either you grew up or where your parents or grandparents live now (or someone very special in your life).
Home brings back a flood of memories. Home is the place where many memories with your family is made and it is an important place in our lives. Home is also a place of protection. It is a place where the people who call it home are important to your life-past, present, and future.
In scripture it tells us that even Jesus came home. In Mark 2:1, the passage states that Jesus entered a place called Capemaum. The people who lived there stated in the verse that “he [Jesus] had come home.”
Of course, coming home is very important. It shows the people (parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, etc.) who live there that they are important to you, because you will take the time, energy and cost to come home.
The ultimate coming home will take place either at the end of your life or the second coming of Jesus. Paul tells us, “we have a building from God, an eternal house in Heaven, not built by human hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1). The traveling to this home will also take time, energy and cost. Are you taking the time and investing in the right person, Jesus Christ? Are you spending your energy in living life for Jesus? Do you understand the cost? It cost Jesus Christ his life-death by crucifixion-to give us a chance and an opportunity to live life for Him. Are you ready to go home?
