Power Outage

[260 words]

One of the worst things about winter weather is the power outages that come along with ice storms. Power outages put us in a difficult position these days because so much depends on that electricity. There are so many things we cannot accomplish without it. Although the plant that generates the electricity for us may be functioning, if any problems occur in the transmission lines, there’s no power for us! Likewise, God is a constant source of power for us for daily living, but if the “transmission lines” get interrupted, we don’t get the benefits! Here are some characteristics of God’s power:

God’s Power is Real. Some people want to limit God’s power to only what they can see. But God is so powerful He created the entire universe out of nothing (Gen. 1-2; Col. 1:16; Hebrews 11:3). Remember Jesus (Luke 8:46; 6:19).

God’s Power is Supreme. Power belongs to God (Psalms 62:11). It can defeat death. Man can’t do this (Ecc. 8:8; Psalms 89:48). Jesus could (John 10:18)! A power like that, there is nothing that He cannot do (Matt. 19:26).

God’s Power is Available. We can’t defeat death, but when we connect with God, His power can and will save us (1 Cor. 6:14). Free from law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2). When we are Christians, He supplies us (Isaiah 40:29). We are called to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Eph. 6:10).

If we experience a power outage, it’s not because the source has stopped generating. It’s because something has happened to interrupt the transmission. Are you plugged in to God’s power for salvation (Rom. 1:16)?
