Promises, Promises

[147 words]

The world is full of promises, some broken, some kept. God keeps His. The greatest promise of the Bible is salvation. It’s the greatest promise because it can remove the greatest curse, sin. Jesus came to take away sin: “he was manifested to take away our sins” (1 John 3:5). Through obedience to the gospel of Christ we can be saved from the power of sin (Hebrews 2:14); the pollution of sin (1 John 1:7); the penalty of sin (Romans 6:23) and the presence of sin (Revelation 21:1-27).

The promises of God are exceeding great and precious (2 Peter 1:4). The Lord holds out the wonderful promises of remission of sins (Acts 2:38); all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3); and eternal life (1 John 2:25). The Bible says “He is faithful that promised” (Hebrews 10:23). Do you believe the Lord keeps His promises? To enjoy the promises of the Lord, you must first obey the commands of the Lord. Have you obeyed?
