Do you ever get upset with potholes? You know, life is often referred to as a journey with potholes. We begin our journey at birth. But much of our early life is dictated by someone else. Babies do not have to worry about potholes, a wrong turn, or any bumps in the road. However, as we grow and mature, we begin to make our own decisions. Unfortunately, some of us attempt to direct our way without any help. Jeremiah had something to say about this! “Nor is it in man who walks to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).
You know, a sign indicating a bump, a dip, or rough road ahead is very helpful. Spiritually speaking, we need to anticipate bumps, dips, and potholes in our lives. We should look for and prepare for difficult times. What road are you taking? How many dips, bumps and holes do you anticipate on this route? Are you prepared? What manual prepares you for the bumps of life? Just remember David’s words: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
