When I was a young boy in school the teachers often gave us a “True/False” quiz. I loved that kind of test. I could rip right through them marking “T” or “F” with abandon and very little thought. I was usually disappointed in my grade because a good teacher knows how to word the questions to tell them how much I really know about the subject. And if any part of the question was false the whole thing was false. I would read the first part of the question and answer it true; but the last part would prove it to be false.
Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). How much of Jesus’ word can I miss and it still be the truth? You know the answer if you have ever taken one of those “true/false” test. Let me give you an illustration. Last week I watched and listened to a preacher on TV. He had an excellent lesson on homosexuality. He was biblical in all he said about that subject. At the end of his lesson he asked the TV audience to repeat the “sinner’s prayer” so they could become a Christian. Was his message the truth? Would he pass the test of God’s word? Indeed would God approve what the man was preaching? What about those who believed his lie and said the prayer? Would they be Christians? Remember if any part of it is false the whole thing is false! The “sinner’s prayer” cannot be found in the Bible.
