So many misunderstandings abound concerning the church Jesus built (Mat. 16:18). A few mistakes people make in thinking about the church are:
The church is a building. It is not, it is a body of saved people (Acts 2:47; Eph. 5:23).
The church is an after-thought, or second plan of Jesus, after He could not establish a physical kingdom. How wrong such a view is! The church is according to God’s eternal plan and purpose (Eph. 3:10-11).
The church is a social club. No, the church is a spiritual entity. Its members enjoy social interaction, but they compose the “house of God” and are the “kingdom” of Christ (1 Tim. 3:15; Col. 1:13).
The church is a human institution, so we can make our own rules. How wrong! The church belongs to Christ, and His Word is our law (Heb. 9:15). He is the Head of the church (Col. 1:18)!
