Partiality

[267 words]

“To show partiality is not good” (Proverbs 28:21), but men do! God on the other hand does not and never has shown partiality the way men do. A good example of God’s impartiality is seen in comparing Ephesians 6:9 with Colossians 4:25. In Ephesians Paul tells the “masters” how they should treat their slaves and the reason is God shows no partiality. In the Colossians passage Paul tells the slaves how they should work for their masters (verses 22-25) and the reason is God shows no partiality. God has one standard for both the slave and the slave owner: all who “does wrong” will be repaid by God for the wrong he has done whether master or slave.

God shows no partiality when it comes to salvation. This is why Jesus said; “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 15:16). When Peter preached the gospel to Cornelius, a Gentile, he said, “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts 10:34). And in Acts 15.:9 he said, “God made no distinction between them (Gentiles) and us (Jews), purifying their hearts by faith.”

There is one savior, Jesus Christ. And God shows no partiality either to the Jew, or the Greek. God is not partial to the slave or to the free. God shows no partiality to either men or women. Each will be Judged individually and if any are saved it will be through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).
