Skeptic: “If there is a good, all-powerful God, why doesn’t he end all the evil, violence, wickedness and suffering in the world?”
Christian: “He will. When Christ comes again he will judge the world in righteousness, punish all evil doers and bless and reward the faithful.”
Skeptic: “What is he waiting for? Why hasn’t he already done that?”
Christian: “Because he loves you and is giving you more opportunity. He is ‘patient toward you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance’ (2 Peter 3:9). God’s reason for delaying his coming and judgment is not indifference to sin, it is compassion for sinners who might yet be brought to repentance.”
