David sings and prays to the Lord. The book of Psalms is full of how to praise God and how God looks upon His children. “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him” (Psalm 33:8). The Lord expects awe and fear, but the world’s inhabitants are failing miserably in both of these worship traits.
David goes further in verse 12: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” David goes from individuals to the whole nation in telling about nations who worship and obey God. These nations will receive God’s blessing and shield. It is apparent what will happen to the disobedient nations.
David then offers reasons that should make men want to live in awe and fear of Him. Verse 13: “The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.” The man who believes that the Bible is the true message of God should live in obedience and reverence to Him on this earth. God sees people rushing to and fro, finding entertainments in drunken pleasures, murders, robbery and in lying to one another. Then there are some who bow down before the God whom they love.
The second truth David speaks of is found in verse 15: “He who understands all their works.” Yes God knows and understands. He knows what we are doing and even the intentions of our hearts.
David ends this Psalm in verse 22: “Let your loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, according as we have hoped in you.”
