Many of the psalms David wrote referred to his many enemies surrounding him. In Psalm 57, he says, “My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men, Who are set on fire, Whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword” (v.4).
Despite his adversaries, David was positive that God would save him when he called out to Him: “I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah God shall send forth His mercy and His truth” (v.2-3).
Christians can expect this kind of response from our loving Father when we call out to Him. As Jesus said, “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13). Though we walk in difficult circumstances, we can have confidence, remembering that God is listening and will answer you, in Jesus name!
