Only One Right Way

[237 words]

There is only right and wrong. In true religion, there is only one right way, and that way is made plain in the Bible.

King David learned this. His decision to have an adulterous affair with Uriah the Hittite’s wife was wrong. His adultery with her violated God’s law in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:14). David set God’s law aside to continue in the affair by having Bathsheba’s husband killed (2 Samuel 11:14-17).

The easiest way to set aside God’s commands is to simply ignore them or to lie to oneself that they don’t apply to the situation. It is clear David did a little of both not only to commit adultery but also continue his relationship with another man’s wife.

Sin hasn’t changed much in the last several thousand years since David committed adultery and murder. It is still the scourge of mankind because the same kind of lust David experienced is still in the world even now.

There is only one way to stop sin and that is by obeying God’s word in the Bible. This includes obeying the gospel as people did on the Day of Pentecost and afterward (Acts 2:37-38) and remaining faithful to God (Revelation 2:10).

Otherwise, we humans will continue to keep serving sin and suffering the consequences of our actions (Romans 6:23).

Stop the cycle. Obey the gospel and start serving God today.
