I just read a report from mission workers in India. The closing article reported on the rules of conduct expected in Sinclair High School in Bangalore. Nine rules were given covering everything from proper dress to items not acceptable in the classroom to respect for fellow students and teachers. And there was one rule given to parents: Do not enter a classroom, go to the office! Students who fail to follow the rules would be expelled from the school. The Bible is about the rules of conduct for church members. Yes, God’s word covers everything we do. How we dress (1 Timothy 2:9), who we associate with (1 Corinthians 15:33; Ephesians 5:11); how we speak (Ephesians 4:29). The Bible even sets the rules for how we conduct ourselves at home (Ephesians 5:22—6:4). In fact, God sets the rules of conduct for every aspect of our life. When we break God’s rule of conduct, we sin. And those who persist will be barred from heaven. May God help us to abide by His rules of conduct.
