In Eden, after man’s fall, God asked Adam, “Where are you?” Adam said, “I was afraid…and I hid myself” (Gen. 3:9-10). Having sinned against his Creator, Adam hid among the trees. It is impossible to hide from God. Adam found that out, and so did Jonah. Many think they can hide out from God, and cover their sins. Many hide from elders and preachers, thinking this is a way to deal with wrongdoing. Hiding out doesn’t change a thing. God knows.
Instead of hiding out, we need to come to God in repentance and enjoy His forgiveness through Christ. Then, instead of running from God, we can run to Him for every day’s needs, and hide in Him, not hide from Him! “In time of trouble, He shall hide me” (Psalm 27:5).
