“Then Jesus cried out, when a man believes in Me, he does not believe in Me only, but in the one who sent Me. When he looks at Me, he sees the one who sent Me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness” (John 12:44-46).
Most of the world believes in a superior being, a God. This desire to worship and proclaim their belief in deity manifests itself in many different ways and creeds. Man, more often than not has made the rules as how to serve their God. Jesus spoke on behalf of the one true God. His coming was promised for many centuries before He appeared on earth. He set aside men as apostles to proclaim and record His teachings for all generations that have followed.
Providence has given us the means and methods to share that light with the whole world. We need to ask ourselves if we have taken advantage of the light and have acquainted ourselves with the full scope of knowledge that has been made so accessible to us. We have no excuse for not knowing the nature of God and what He expects of us today. The opportunity is ours and as the verse says, no one who believes in Jesus should stay in darkness. Opportunity and responsibility are closely connected. Belief in Jesus is listening and doing what He expects of us. Wasting the opportunity is tragic.
