With spring around the corner, early season crops can be seeded in the garden, such as lettuce. Using a play on “lettuce,” a sermon on the “let us” passages could be used in a sermon encouraging Christians to take action. Hebrews uses the phrase 13 times.
Hebrews 4:1 — let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it
Hebrews 4:11 — Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest
Hebrews 4:14 — let us hold fast our confession
Hebrews 4:16 — Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace
Hebrews 6:1 — let us go on to perfection
Hebrews 10:22 — let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith
Hebrews 10:23 — Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering
Hebrews 10:24 — let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works
Hebrews 12:1 — let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us
Hebrews 12:1 — let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:28 — let us have grace
Hebrews 13:13 — let us go forth to Him
Hebrews 13:15 — let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God
That’s a lot of “let us!”
