When Philip asked the eunuch if he understood what he was reading, the eunuch said, “How can I unless someone guides me?” He was in need of someone to help clarify the scriptures! Granted, he was reading an Old Testament text without the New Testament revelation, but nevertheless, as Romans 10:14 teaches, “…how shall they hear without a preacher?” The church is the light of the world (Matt. 5:14) and the pillar and ground of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15).
