This past week, the Texas Rangers earned a place in baseball history. Not all teams have achieved this honor. They won the World Series. Five major league teams have not achieved this honor, and there are many players who will retire never having been in even one World Series game.
Concerning the World Series, each Ranger player and coach will be given a World Series ring to wear or display. In the history of the game, the player who earned the most World Series rings was the late Yogi Berra. His ring case displayed 10. Yogi was known for his funny, yet insightful, quotes. Once, after winning another World Series, Yogi said, “You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there.”
The truth is, there are many people who don’t know where they’re going once this life is
over. They give very little thought to where they will be in the next life. Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).
