Old Age

[131 words]

A little boy asked his grandpa, “Grandad, were you in the ark?” “No, I wasn’t Billy.” The perplexed little boy replied, “Then, why weren’t you drowned?” Regardless of modern views, old age is not a disease! In fact, the Bible represents old age as an asset, in many respects. The faithful aged person has learned and grown. “Wisdom is with aged men, and with length of days, understanding” (Job 12:12). Having enjoyed God’s blessing throughout life the aged confidently prays, “Do not cast me off in the time of old age” (Psa. 71:9). A life lived long for God is such a good example to the young. “The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness” (Prov. 16:31). So live!
