One of the most amazing parts of Exodus is when the Israelites were commanded by God to paint their door frames with the blood of the lambs that were sacrificially killed at the institution of the Passover (Ex. 12:21-23).
God’s people were in slavery to Egypt at the time, and God was about to bring the 10th plague, the death of the firstborn, upon Egypt. But any home marked by the blood of the lamb would be “passed over” during this destruction.
This event in Exodus gave clues to the future salvation through the blood sacrifice of the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. His sacrifice on the cross is true salvation, and it is by His blood we are cleansed of sin. If we are marked by His blood today, we will not be harmed by the judgment to come!
