After everything the Israelites had seen—the ten plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, the manna, the fall of Jericho, the sun standing still—they still had idol worship among them.
That is why Joshua had to tell them, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
This is a common problem, even among Christians today! We’ve see the blessings of God in our lives, and yet still hold on to idolatrous ways of thinking and acting. Flee from idolatry!
