Reasons to Read the Bible Each Day

[322 words]

There is no way to know all the challenges, trials, triumphs, and sorrows the year will bring. However, one thing is certain: you will have a better year if you read the Bible each day. The following are reasons to read the Bible each day:

Read the Bible to increase your faith. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

Read the Bible to increase in knowledge. “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).

Read the Bible to be wise unto salvation. “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).

Read the Bible to know how to live right. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Read the Bible because you will be blessed (truly happy) if you do. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand” (Revelation 1:3).

Read the Bible that you might know truth from error. “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).

Read the Bible because it is commanded. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

All of these Scriptures reveal the need to read the Bible. When making your list of resolutions for the New Year, resolve to read the Bible each day. You will be glad you did.
