Acts chapter five contains a familiar account. It tells the story of Ananias and Sapphira. They sold some land and gave a portion of that money to the church. Normally this would be a great deed. However, they claimed that they were giving everything to the church, most likely motivated by wanting all to know how good the y were. They were instantly punished by death. In verse four, they were told that they were not lying to men, but to God.
Often times we can be guilty of this. We put on a mask when we are around others. We do our best to present ourselves as more holy than we are. We cannot fool God.
Let us strive to be genuine in our lives as we aim for heaven together.
