It’s very common for people to ask this question: “Why do good people suffer?” Why do good people get sick, have money problems, and simply struggle with difficult times? The basic answer to these questions is that we live in a physical world and along with being physical beings we both enjoy physical blessings and suffer physical pain. However, in Ephesians 1:3 the apostle Paul reminded us of something very important. He said “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” It is certainly true that even Christians struggle in this life; however, God has promised that when it comes to our spiritual life (which is far more important) the Christian has been blessed with every single spiritual blessing. We must stop considering life successful based on our physical circumstance and start basing our lives’ success on spiritual blessings.
