Three years ago, Florida police pulled over a speeding car traveling over 90 mph on one of the state’s major intersections.
As an officer approached the car, he noticed two zip-lock bags labeled “bag full of drugs.” A drug-sniffing dog alerted the police that illegal drugs were inside the automobile. This gave the police “probable cause to search the vehicle. They found illegal containers of methamphetamine, GHB, cocaine, fentanyl and MDMA (ecstasy).
Most drug smugglers do not speed. Instead, they carefully follow all traffic laws. And they certainly do not leave in open sight containers of stuff labeled “bag full of drugs.” One writer commented about this event: “this is a case of truly stupid criminals.”
The truth is, God doesn’t need to stumble on bags of dope—appropriately labeled or not. He knows all things. He knows all our sins. Yet, he still forgives us when we truly repent of those short-comings. That’s the beauty of God’s grace.
