Twelve little guys spying Canaan’s land
Now, they weren’t really small, for each was a man
But the giants there made each feel like a bug
Easily squashed and swept under the rug
The land there was great and the produce, plentiful
All, in all, in all, it was most incredible
Yet those wicked inhabitants put a damper on things
How could they conquer those powerful kings?
So back they went to report on the matter
And what they described made quite a chatter
“We can’t do it”, ten woefully declared,
“We won’t ever make it and we’re ever so scared”
But two faithful men, Caleb and Joshua
Said, “Of course we can do it, with the help of Jehovah”
“He’s given us this land – it’s ours for the taking”
“God’s guaranteed it – there’s no mistaking”
Alas, Israel would not, could not be persuaded
And their hopes and lives eventually faded
Joshua and Caleb were the only exception
Because they believed God from the very inception
Most dishonored God – only a few praised
Most were lost – only a few were saved
The moral for us is easy to see
Will we be the people God wants us to be?
